Low Sperm Count Low sperm count, medically termed as Oligozoospermia, is one of the main causes of male infertility. A man is considered to have a low sperm count when he has less than 20 million spermatozoa per one ml of semen. Many medical conditions as well as physical factors can be the cause of a low sperm count. Genetic problems with sperm production, testicular injury, nutrition deficiencies, usage of saunas & steam baths, substance abuse, excessive use of alcohol and drugs, exposure to toxins and radiation, extensive cycling, stress, depression as well as obesity can all lead to a low sperm count temporarily or permanently. Low sperm count can be increased or improved by following a high protein vitamin enriched nutritious diet, avoiding alcohol, cigarettes & drugs, exercising regularly, as well as by some natural medical supplements such as semen enhancement pills. Avoiding usage of tight underwear, saunas, hot tubs and anything else that may increase the temperature of the testicles also helps in maintaining a healthy sperm count. |
